Our first date was a walk through the woods on a perfect October day in the midst of a global pandemic in 2020 and we have been exploring the world together ever since. A week after we met, Duane surprised me with a mystery day trip and told me only that I needed to wear clothes I could hike in. Yes, maybe I was a little crazy for agreeing to go on a mysterious “day trip”, clearly to the middle of nowhere, with a man I’d only known for a week, but come on… look at that face, who wouldn’t trust that face?!?
The date did involve hiking and then digging in the dirt in the middle of nowhere, but thankfully the goal was not to bury a body. This amazing man had remembered a tidbit of information from one of our first conversations when I had mentioned that I loved to look for fossils and then he did research and found an awesome place to go only a few hours from home. That was the day I realized I was falling in love with this man and that I wanted him to be my adventure buddy for the rest of my life. Since then we have been on so many epic adventures together and we have a lifetime more to go.
I’ve always been a lover of the great outdoors. I did my fair share of adventuring before I met Duane, but he definitely brought me to the next level. I may be a little biased because I am absolutely in love with this man, but I’m telling you, he’s the coolest guy I’ve ever known. He hunts with bow and arrow, takes me on incredible adventures, has the best sense of humor, he’s a total nerd but like the cool, super attractive kind of nerd, and he moved to the mountains in upstate NY with me because after one visit here together we decided we wanted this to be the place we built a life together. He’s awesome!
Oh yeah, and he’s one heck of a fisherman. Legendary in my opinion and somehow he’s kept it a secret for all this time. Sorry Darlin’… the secret is out! The world deserves to know about you and all your fishing secrets.
